This tour is a great opportunity to see one of the main Hurghada attractions, one of the largest aquariums in the world and the largest aquarium in Egypt with 1 million US gallons or 3,500 m3 of sea and fresh water.
This popular tourist spot in Hurghada also has a mesmerizing shark tunnel, a mini zoo with exotic animals, Whale Valley based on unique fossils found in the Western Desert and much more. An emotional and unforgettable experience is guaranteed.
Hurghada Grand Aquarium is home to over 1200 individual animals, and 100 species. Almost all fish species that inhabit the Red Sea are represented there. For example, there are gigantic moray eels of about three and a half meters long – such fish can hardly be seen in the open sea even by experienced divers. There are also stingrays and electric rays, green sea turtles and other Red Sea creatures.
In the Aquarium’s shark tunnel visitors can watch nurse sharks, whose name probably comes from the sucking sound they make when hunting for prey in the sand, which vaguely resembles that of a nursing baby. Moreover, the tunnel is inhabited by gray reef sharks, eagle rays, and a large species of wrasse called Napoleon fish for its thick lips and a hump on its forehead that looks similar to the hairstyle of the famous French military commander and political leader.
According to the schedule, a spectacular fish feeding show is held here. You can watch how a scuba diver offers treats to nurse sharks and other local inhabitants at the bottom of the Aquarium.
Local mini zoo is inhabited by iguanas, toothy Nile crocodiles, tortoises, feathered animals such as pelicans, ostriches, Egyptian geese, charming pink flamingos, and nimble monkeys.Another must-visit place in the aquarium is the exhibition of unique fossils found in the Whale Valley or Wadi Al-Hitan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The exhibition presents the original skeletons of prehistoric creatures found by archaeologists. These fossils prove the hypothesis that the Sahara was once the bottom of the World Ocean. Tourists can hardly get to Wadi Al-Hitan, however, they can easily admire the paleontological finds while visiting Hurghada Grand Aquarium.
